The Tallahassee Professional Photographers Board Meeting was called to order at 6:15pm on September 15th, 2008. In attendance, Martin Gudz, Aj Alberra, Frank Feliciano, Ron Gardner, Wayne Denmark, Linda Long, Cindy Strickland and Nathan Wood.
Past Business- Motion by Frank to accept the August minutes as posted on the website. Second by Ron and passed unopposed.
Treasury- Ron reported the current balance is $794.
Members- Wayne reported that we curently have 27 paid members.
There was discussion of the categories of membership as defined at the August Board Meeting. Wayne motioned to allow students to retain their “student” status for as long as they were enrolled in a photographic education program. Cindy seconded the motion. After much discussion, the motion was defeated 7 to 1. The student or aspiring status remains as it was voted last month– any person can be eligible for student or aspiring for ONE year. After the one year, they must obtain a business tax license and join as a full member or join as an associate working for a studio who is already a full member.
Website- The membership list has been added to the website, but we need websites from each of the members so we may add their weblink as well.
Programs- For October, Brian Idocks is on the schedule. November is Aaron Lockwood and December will be the Chrismas Party. September program with Pepito Valdez will be in the large room at the Silver Slipper. The program will be on projection, selling and style.
For future meetings, the schedule will be:
6:00-6:30 arrive and enter prints in competition (no prints accepted after 6:30)
6:35-6:50 print voting
6:45- salads served
7:00 Business meeting begins, print winners announced, vote for Overall Print of the Month
7:30 program begins
Salon- Cindy Strickland is now taking the Print of the Month Duties.
Door Prize- Woody is making calls to secure door prizes for the meetings.
Location- Frank is exploring options for an alternate location to hold future meetings and the holiday party.
Scholarship- With the current bank account status, we will be able to give a scholarship to Florida School. The selection of the receipient will change from previous years. Each full member will receive one ticket for their attendance at each meeting, for their participation in Florida School, Convention, for serving on the board, etc. From those tickets, a name will be drawn from a hat.
Print of the Month- Print of the Month entries MUST be entered no later than 6:30pm. All votes must be cast by 6:50pm. All first place winners will receive a second vote for Overall Print of the Month. When you enter your prints you should also submit an electronic copy (with your logo or business name) to be posted on the website. Please bring thumbdrives or CDs with the jpeg version of the image sized no larger than 900×900 pixels.
