Wedding days are filled with emotions. The big day moves so fast with moments happening so quickly, it’s easy to miss them! Mary Beth Tyson is known to her clients for her ability to document true moments and emotions consistently, all while taking a fly-on-the-wall approach. Focusing on how she approaches the wedding day, she’ll talk about how photographing special moments between people is more than being in the right place at the right time. It begins long before the wedding day by educating and booking the right clients. It starts with asking the simple question, “Do you want a particular picture or do you want the real experience you see in the picture?”
Mary Beth’s style of documentary wedding photography breaks down into 2 elements: anticipation of moments and understanding relationships. Attendees will learn how to take her unobtrusive approach to weddings and how to shoot creatively for clients who live in a Pinterest world. It’s all about giving them what they need, not just what they think they want. Mary Beth believes that documentary wedding photography is NOT creating images that LOOK like they are the result of a real moment. Documentary wedding photography is creating images from real moments and interactions that were theresult of very little input from the photographer.
About the Speaker:
Mary Beth has three boys under the age of four. She rarely shoots a wedding that doesn’t require a plane trip, but still feels like by day she’s a stay at home mom. Focusing on her true ability and passion to be a documentary wedding photographer is what helped her weed out he excess weddings and shoot a certain number of weddings per year for clients who want an experience beyond what they see on Pinterest.
